Argentina condemns Iran defense minister nominee PDF Print E-mail

Télam. National News Agency of Argentina. August 21, 2009. The Argentine Foreign Office reported that the nomination of Ahmad Vahidi to the Defense Secretary of Iran position represents "an insult to the Argentine justice and to the victims of the brutal terrorist attack against the Jewish Community Centre in   Argentina (AMIA)."

Argentine Israeli Associations Delegation (DAIA) condemned the appointment like Iran Defense Minister, Ahmad Vahidi, accused by the Argentine justice in relation to the bombing of the mutual in Buenos Aires, the worst terrorist attack on a Jewish centre outside Israel, the bombing to the Jewish Community Centre in Buenos Aires AMIA on July 18th, 1994.

Vahidi, whose international capture order was requested by the Interpol, is also subject to an Interpol “red notice” since November 2007. Such a notice is distributed to police agencies around the world by the Interpol agency.


"The decision adopted by the Iranian president who systematically denies the Holocaust and calls for the destruction of the State of Israel, constitutes an un-qualifiable offense to the victims of the tragedy and its relatives, to the Argentine Jewish community and to the Argentine Republic and its judicial system", informed the statement.


The president of the Jewish Community centre in Buenos Aires, Guillermo Borger, voiced that ''we are completely surprised and outraged by the nomination of Ahmad Vahid. His appointment is shameless and insulting.''
